No singing allowed

Woke up to the phone ringing. Cut from work again. Took advantage of the bonus day off and went up to Philly to grab some grub and sing some tunes. Food? Check. Karaoke? MIA! The one time I don't call before hand is the time that the Elephant & Castle don't have karaoke on a Saturday. That is my luck. So, went walk about in the city. Nice night, nice sights, but too many people swimming in that fountain.

ps. happy 72nd birthday, ringo! peace & love!

Freaky

Came home from Geometry with a surprising amount of energy. So much so that I went to Target, made brownies from scratch, cleaned up that mess, took Gizmo for a long walk around and out of the neighborhood, did my homework, made dinner, and carved a pumpkin. Afterward, I got a migraine and passed out before 1am. That's what I call a freaky Friday.

Don't worry, no permanent damage done

Today in Typography, I began to live. There was a lot of firsts this week, but after I had my first truffle living finally began! To celebrate this, I took a nice walk in the place where lives end with Jamie and Gizmo. The weather was perfection. After walking around the cemetery for a while, we walked down to the park and Gizmo demonstrated how good he can be when he tries. He also showed a little girl how mean he can be when he tries too. I can't say I was that mad at him for barking at that little girl, though. After I took him down the slide, she came over with the relentless goal of petting my lovely puppy. Of course, Gizmo wasn't having that. For all he knew, that little girl could have been trying to kill me! And maybe he should have. Despite his ferocious barking, she still was reaching her hand up to him. Do we really need that kind of stupidity in the world? I know what you're thinking I'm being cruel and not giving a young lass a fair chance to grow up into an intelligent, productive adult. But her mother sat by and watched this exchange and did nothing so I have to assume there's not much chance for that family to succeed in the world. ;)

Shot out of a cannon!

Was a little restless, so I decided to make use of a warm, sunny day and go back in time; to 1950s Millville. Visited the General Store to get some yummy candy. Then took a stroll down to their brand new jungle gym. If you ever wondered why that shoot in the Wheaton Village Playground looks like it's from the Holocaust, well, news flash, it was! I also learned that cumin is a very good spice and that feeling like flying on swings doesn't mean that you should try it. Then I saw magic flying fish and the oldest woman in the world. Despite having such a good time in 1950, I'm back in 2-0-0-9. It's ok, but I might go back for another Skybar.

I'm going to hit you so hard you'll be blind

Despite a very sore back and very hot, sticky weather, I gave Gizmo a bath followed by a walk down the Maurice River Path. At least, I think that's what it's called. Be that as it may, it was a pretty exciting walk. I got bit by a mosquito, we saw a man on a bike, we had a laugh at the spelling disabilities of Millville graffiti artists, and nearly stepped on a big snake. It wouldn't have been as scary of an experience if I had realized it was a snake rather than thinking it was a snake. In my mind, this stick suddenly moved and slithered away very quickly. It was freaky. Of course, Gizmo failed his terrier breed by being completely oblivious and looking up at me with a face full of, "what is your problem?" Can't wait for our next walk! Never know what will happen!

We didn't say lose weight

Been keeping myself busy the past few days taking care of things around the house. Gave myself a little creativity break. But Jamie and I did step out today and visit the new foot bridge over the Maurice River. I just made up that term "foot bridge" since I'm trying to say it's a bridge for people to walk over, not automobiles or trains. So, yeah, foot bridge. It's a pretty nice little bridge. It's also a safe haven for the most spiders I've ever seen. So, even if people aren't loving it, spiders are. And, guess what, we didn't kill a single one!

Just hiking around the forest..

When you're low on cash, get back to the basics. Be one with nature. That's just what Jamie and I did. I have the mosquito bites on my foot and forehead to prove it. Jamie made out a bit better since she killed a bug and left its dead, lifeless mush on her hand as a warning to all other bugs. Though I suppose the moths couldn't avoid her even if they tried. Bugs asides, we had a nice, toll free time. Not to mention I unintentionally posed as the high school photographer, which was such an honor. Luckily there was lots of recreational things to photograph.

Are we going to have a problem?

Despite the gray sky, the weather was delightfully warm so Matt, Gizmo, and I took a wee walk in the cemetery. We were going to take a walk down the scenic path, but on nice days there's tons of people doing that very thing and Gizmo is not what you would call a "people dogson". During our walk, I showed Matt how if I drop the leash Gizmo stops walking and waits for me to pick it back up. It lead to a lot of discussion about dogs getting out and so on and so forth. In hindsight, this must have been some kind of foreshadowing...
