I go home and put my hand in the fire

Recently I've been getting more and more into graphic design. Just messing around doing the things I've done for my own band and things I've done for personal use have sort of inspired me to look into doing it on a broader scale. Perhaps as a form of employment. Of course, I've had no formal training, but that's pretty much the theme of every creative venture I've ever entered into. I just figure while I'm somewhat unemployed and in a bit of a lull, I should try out new things. Today I spent my entire day sketching things. It's a satisfying thing. Hopefully it's not all in vain. Funny how what goes around comes around. Even in your own little life.

You ain't as green as you are young

My parents went to California and came home with an awesome, expensive new camera. Well, actually, that's not entirely accurate. Apparently my father decided to buy it and hide it and unveiled this very expensive splurge he'd made (with no money of his own) while in Santa Monica. I have no idea how much it actually cost, but I can't imagine it was under $300. I'm perfectly happy with the camera I have right now, but my dream camera is something more like this one. With changeable lens and flashes. Ah well. Someday, someday. In related camera news, I was in the driveway and I discovered this cute little patch of snow crocuses. We have them planted in the front of the house, but a little bunch sprouted up in a random location this year and it was a happy little discovery. Spring is definitely on the way!

Hell Froze Over Season 1

I don't know how I feel about the first episode I post being an episode called "lesbian", but my parents came home from visiting my brother in California and I felt it was appropriate to post some of his work. If you didn't pick up the subtle undertones, let me explain further. Misplaced Planet is my eldest brother's production company. He's a screenwriter in Los Angeles. After many great and hilarious shorts, their latest work is this YouTube channel called "Hell Froze Over". It's great. If you love sarcasm and hilarity, I don't know why you're not already watching this show! I know I probably come off as a tad bias considering he's my brother, but I think the time he's been away from home, the distance between us, and the lack of communication between us nearly makes our shared blood irrelevant! Just watch it! And share it with your friends!

Zoeebug's big adventure

Today sucked. At 7am, I awoke to the sounds of Zoee barking. None stop barking. Any other morning, my grandmother would be up at that hour, but she wasn't so I got up and let the little mutt outside. Then at 11am, I awoke to the sound of my grandmother calling my name up my stairs. Why? Because in the midst of the windy morning, the back gate must have come unlatched and blown open. And when my grandmother let Zoee outside, Zoee went on a little personal adventure. So, quick as could be, I threw on my Uggs, my glasses, and an old sweatshirt and ran outside to look for her. I was surprisingly calm considering the horrible possibility of Zoee being gone forever and having to tell my parents this while they were on vacation, which is probably good considering how nutty I must have looked walking the streets in my Snoopy PJ's and messy hair (though, maybe not in Millville..). When I was in the back near the woods, I heard the gate blow closed. For whatever reason, it made me think I should go on the route of Zoee's daily walks instead of searching in a region foreign to her. So, I go walking up the road. I thought I saw a little gray dog looking down the road at me from a distance so I start to run. The nearer I got the more clear it was that it was indeed Zoee and she soon recognized me and ran towards me. But when I got close enough to her to nearly grab her, she screamed bloody murder and bolted around me. That was basically the scariest moment for me. She nearly ran in the road (I live on a busy highway) and I was afraid she was going to just keep running away from me. But when I knelt down and said her name, she came over to me. I suppose she thought she was in trouble and was afraid I was going to discipline her at first. I'm not sure. Once she came over to me, I picked her up and she was full of kisses for me. So, I don't know why she had that sudden freak out. I guess maybe she was just shook up in the first place. Anyway, I took her back home and my grandmother continued to fret for hours (and will probably continue fretting for the rest of the week) and I attempted to begin my day, but wound up just laying in my mom's bed watching tv and dozing on and off. A wasted, crap day. Zoee gave me a terrible case of the Mondays.

Are we going to have a problem?

Despite the gray sky, the weather was delightfully warm so Matt, Gizmo, and I took a wee walk in the cemetery. We were going to take a walk down the scenic path, but on nice days there's tons of people doing that very thing and Gizmo is not what you would call a "people dogson". During our walk, I showed Matt how if I drop the leash Gizmo stops walking and waits for me to pick it back up. It lead to a lot of discussion about dogs getting out and so on and so forth. In hindsight, this must have been some kind of foreshadowing...

I may be skirting the issue slightly

While unsuccessfully browsing Steve McQueen's new clothing line [;)] in Target yesterday, I picked up a new mascara. It's supposed to make my brown eyes *pop!*

Point is, I put it on today. Are they popping?

Guard it with your life

Much to my dismay, my mother will be out of town for the next week. This morning (or technically this afternoon) I drove my parents to the airport so they could begin their California vacation to celebrate my mom's birthday. I suppose some people would be living it up and inviting everyone over for a sweet house party, but those people do not also live with their grandmother. I would love to have the house to myself so I could play music into the late hours. There's also other things that annoy me about being here basically alone with my grandmother all week, but it's neither here nor there. I'll make the best of it. Turn these lemons into pink lemonade. Pink lemonade is better.

Whatcha Wearin Wednesday

Earlier I stumbled onto a random blog, I wish I had saved it for reference, and they had this thing called "Whatcha Wearin Wednesday!". Since I didn't do really much of anything today worth blogging about, I thought I'd just do this. So, this is what I wore. It's not terribly exciting. But I guess that's the point of randomly doing it. A sneak peek into the mundane life of me at home!

They don't want another dog

So, I did my laundry. I'm one of those people that only has to do their laundry about once a month because I have so much clothing. But every time I do it, I have to reorganize my dressers to fit everything in. Which requires me to make some cuts and changes. But, I was pretty proud of my accomplishment. It's looking better than ever! Had to share! And I also FINALLY put some sweet new stickers on my guitar case! Shit, I'm lazy. I need to leave the house one of these days...

People would think you were super cool

Is it going to snow for forty days and forty nights now? Is that the deal? I don't think I can handle that. This is bullshit.

Look who's here!

So long February!
For being the shortest month,
you seemed to last forever.

We're gonna start with just painting a fence

Lisa moved. I was shocked to find out where. Just shocked. Guess where she moved to!

We had people living in our hallway

Today was George Harrison's birthday. To celebrate, I set myself on fire. It seemed like the best way to honor him. I also worked on the psychological thriller about diabetes that I'm transcribing for my uncle, gave Gizmo a bath, and taught him about the water needs of the Republic of Congo. Which was very controversial. Clearly, I had an unbelievable day!

ps. look at this picture big so you can see Gizmo's pound puppy impersonation!

Not to mention valuable

Hit up the open mic at the Bus Stop Cafe in Uptown Pitman, New Jersey this evening. Hadn't been since last year! As we move closer and closer to spring, so shall I make my triumphant return to the darling little Jersey music scene. And then I'll see Fran more often and I won't have to take his picture so I remember what he looks like. This is what he looks like. Jamie goes just because he's such a great sound guy. She may not participate, but she can't get enough of his skillz (that's what she said).

stand up, dad, take a bow

While laying on my bed nursing a mysterious pain in my abdomen I created my second etch-a-sketch masterpiece. This is either really awesome or really sad. I think probably more sad. Hmm... Yep.

I swear to God that never happens

Went out shopping with my mother and when we saw this she said, "you haven't had a new one in a long time" and was ever so kind enough to get this for me. It got me thinking about how many people even know I have my naval pierced. Can't be more than a handful, really. So, hey world, I have my naval pierced! I have since I was 16. Unlike many girls that got it around that time, I didn't really show mine off nor did I get it infected and have to remove it. I remember a girl in my driver's ed class who sat behind me and picked puss off of her naval ring. Revolting. I'm surprised the sight of it didn't give me an infection.

Happy Birthday, Jamie!

Some Canadian members of Metric decided to pop down to Philly to do a surprise show for Jamie's birthday. I didn't know they were so moved by her birth, but I'm glad that they were! They essentially did a "campfire test" of their new album, sprinkled with some oldie, but goodies. It was awesome. Thanks for being born, Jamie!

Keep the money!

Gizmo and I need to straighten up and fly right. Lingering between sickness and health (me) and not scratching and then biting again (Gizmo) has got to stop! We can't go on this way! But, it should be mentioned, Gizmo looks a lot cuter in his funnel than I do when I'm feeling under the weather. Though, when I lose my voice, I can do the Carrie Bradshaw scream. Who doesn't love that?

Can you hear me?

Behold a sight that has not been witnessed since... hm mm... I'm not exactly sure... sometime last year. What am I talking about? An open CD-rom! Well, to be more accurate, a DVD-rom! My CD-rom decided to up and quit on me a while back. Just refused to open. Even when my brother came by and attempted to pry it open, that bitch would not budge. But for work reasons, it was a necessity to get the situation remedied. And it's a sweet deal! I can actually burn CDs again! Yay!

Playing ketchup!

I spent $0.34 for my Lily Allen CD (technically)...
And it's splendid! Go pick up a copy for yourself.
Even if you have to pay a lil' more than I did!

Dig This! from jenell o'boogie on Vimeo.

YouTube makes me really mad. I'm following Lisa's lead and I'm switching to Vimeo! Vimeo rules the school! If not for Vimeo, sharing this video in its true form would not be possible! I'm definitely going to unleash Gizmo's rug fury onto some YouTube exec's faces! They best watch out! A reckoning is coming!

We got robbed

If you're like Jamie, you had no idea that there's a brand spankin new super Walmart in our area. It's pretty super; for a Walmart. I guess. It's enormous. Perhaps excessively so. And if a new Walmart isn't cool enough for you, then I don't know what more I can offer you. Clearly not my musical genius! PFFFTT!

I like sunlight

I sort of don't work at Aeropostale anymore and I am in the possession of a 3 year old Gardenia Bonsai. How are these two things related? They aren't. They just happened on the same day and were both note worthy; despite the confusion this little bonsai created. If I was still filled with Aero stress, I might not have been able to handle it! Perfect timing!

Let's get tropical!

Accumulation. This is a word that I do not like. It never means anything good to me. "Snow accumulation is little to none" or "you have accumulated millions of dollars this year" never come my way. Always the other way around. It's total balls. What I do like on the other hand? Having completed my second to last day of work!

Hoo-ha!

ps. too brilliant to pass up!

The Legend of Rockabye Point

Sometimes I have these brief, unexplainable flashes where I think the past 4 years has all been a hoax and you'll call me and we'll talk like not a single day has passed.

I wish the flashes lasted longer.

It ended with a chair

I was just thinking the other day how my blog has far too much of my face in it. So, naturally, here's 8 times the normal amount! I am "officially" 25. And officially ready to give away my organs by my own choice rather than my parents consent. My old photo was hideous. What's the general consensus on the new?

I hate to do this, but I must!

Hey, look what I found on youtube!

It's no Lisa Upson Production but it gets the job done!

C'mon, watch it. do it. vote it. I got a terrible migraine making it. The least you could do is watch. and vote. Yeah? Please? :D

I've got sunshine in my life

Before leaving for work this morning, I popped on my trusty brass knuckles. Because, as lame as it sounds, I wear them when I feel I need to be a little tougher (clearly only tough people wear necklaces with knucks on them... Ha!). When we played shows in Philly, I wore them. It's a psychological thing. Some people wear red for empowerment. I wear brass knuckles. Considering the scenes I have seen and heard about from other people who have quit, I thought I might need them today. I was wrong. Ironically, my store manager was in rare form. He was friendly. Apologetic, even. But that didn't deter me from what needed to be done. To my surprise, he said he would miss me. That I was a good work that always did what I was told and that this news "sucked!" In the light of his kind words, I decided to take the high road and not mention the fact that he was partially responsible for my departure. And better yet, he's going to have me on the schedule for next week, which means I can get my "fifties" for February! I can't afford anything, but I'm taking my last perks and running! So, all in all, I guess I didn't need my knucks today. Then again, maybe he was just nice because he was seriously intimidated by my Sasha Fierceness. Oh yeah, I bet that was it. If he liked it than he shoulda put a raise on it!

ps. gah! (thanks jmc!)

We're willing to extend a hand if you're willing to unclench your fist

Today I went out with my mother to run errands and to get what will most likely be my last "fifties" from Aero. For those that are not "in the know", fifties are the once-a-month discount of 50%. You can get two tops, two bottoms, and two accessories for 50% off rather than the everyday discount of 30%. It's a nice deal. I've definitely benefited from that quite often. Be that as it may, on Tuesday when I go in I'm going to be putting in my two week notice. It's highly unlikely that I'll actually be given the opportunity to work two more weeks, but I don't really care. When you lay down the pros and cons, there's a lot of reasons to quit and the discount remains the only reason to stay. And even that isn't that great of a draw since I have absolutely no room in my closet or drawers for anymore clothing! Didn't stop me from getting a few things, though. Felt rather good to be stepping towards the end of Aero! And check out my sweet nails! I got these cheap little stick on nails with stars on them. They're for little girls. Apparently my fingers are so tiny I can wear stick on nails made by a company called "Little Fing'rs". They don't make stick on nails this cute for real women! Oh the perks of having tiny hands!

My life depends on it

I've got the flu and Gizmo wears a funnel. We're quite a pair. He hates it, but I kind of like it. Aside from it hindering his ability to bite himself, he looks like a little space dog.

Who wouldn't love that?

Tuesday, January 20, 2009

Princess, you are ugly when you're mad

A sum up of what's passed since the last time I posted: I've had a bad week. Bad weather. Bad mood. Bad attitude. Bad decisions. Bad flu. Bad. When I got home from Florida, I wished I had more time off. Clearly I did not watch what I wished for. That was bad. But be that as it may, today we got a new President, and that's not too bad.

You can get a whole bunch of Mums

I had my first day back to work today. It wasn't too terrible, but I still want to quit. Hours have been cut to the bone so it's one-on-one coverage, which means an associate and a manager. Even though that leaves me to run all over the store to get things for the manager, it's still boring. I didn't work a lot of hours today, but it dragged on. It was nice to be told at 2:01 to clock out. I assumed I would have to finish my task before leaving, but hours are so slim I had to leave right away! I don't hate on that! What I do hate on is my lungs. On the trip up from Florida, we stopped in North Carolina to rest because I was getting a headache. That was nothing compared to the horrible asthma attack that I endured at 3am that night for two hours. Since then, my lungs have been weird. I've had to use my inhaler a lot and today I've started coughing. It doesn't sound good. I fear I'm probably developing bronchitis. That is poop! My lungs are clearly revolting against this cold weather. Florida spoiled them. I'm going to leave. And if I wasn't afraid of flying, I'd be helping with aerial postal service in Queensland, Australia! Damn my plane phobia!!

Tuesday, January 13, 2009

I'm back, Millville!

I was going to post pictures for each day that we were down in gloriously warm and beautiful Florida, but this works better, I think. I hope. It fucking better. Took ages. And, furthermore, I completely understand why so many people have winter homes in Florida. This weather is ridiculous. It's for real winter this year. We haven't had for real winter for a couple years! I don't know how to handle this! I had sun burn on my nose last week! Ugh! I can't bare this!

ps. This is my first post of the year! Badass!
