Trust me when I say the water is still rising

I didn't take any pictures from this particular day so this picture will due, I guess. Just a random stock photo, I guess. And in some ways I feel it's symbolic. But the symbolism is pretty buried so I won't go into that.

Symbolism aside, I had a pretty alright day. My computer science class got done unexpectedly early. Despite that, I had to hang around a while afterward. I used the time wisely and started my 3 page paper on, believe it or not, Blogger! Anyway, I was expecting a ride to pick me up to go to the Fire to see Vince play a show in support of his new EP. I had a very special cab number that I called. I got the number from this guy, John. I'm really glad he passed it onto me. Great service. Apparently this guy is available for bachlorette parties too! I'm holding onto this number! So, I thought I was going to be late to the Fire and possibly miss Vince's set, but I wound up getting there before him and not missing anything. Didn't miss a single thing. Good set, though. And, about the EP, you should check it out. It is very lovely. So good I bought two.

Make Yourself Naked EP for sale on iTunes. It's only $4.95, folks! Get it! It's really good! I kid you not! And if you're unfamiliar with Army of Me, you should check out their album "Citizen". It rocks. And it rolls.
Ok, I'm done trying to make the hard sell now!

Let's duet

Another right of passage; my mother finally went to an Army of Me show. Well, sort of. It wasn't a full band show, but it's a good start for her. Especially with her Philadelphia phobia. But she'll have to get right over that if I'm accepted to art school. Anyway, it was a splendid show. Somehow Vince knew that my mom's favorite song was "Perfect" and he dedicated it to her. I don't know how he could have known! It was... ... ...PERFECT! Totally no pun intended. No way. I never do such obvious puns. PFFT!

We're having no fun at all

Went to WORLD CAFE LIVE in PHILADELPHIA to see VINCE of ARMY OF ME. I had a delightful turkey wrap while Reni Lane (opener) measured her microphone cord and sang atop tables and chairs. This is when I missed John the most! Then Vince took the stage and, opposed to Reni, was very happy with how quiet everyone was. After many songs and many stories, he departed the stage and juggled his many female followers. After a near fist fight with a Dove model, it was time to lock up. Outside I was appointed keyboard guard, wherein I had to fight off many aspiring pianists, 12 monkeys, and jamboree of ninjas. You know, believe it or not, I'm working hard at making this night sound more interesting. Not that it wasn't a great show. It's just hard to enjoy life without John. LE. SIGH.

ps. It was my half birthday too. Geez.

Do your worst

Despite our lack of ark, Jamie and I went to Jammin' Java to take part in the bass player coalition going on in Vienna, Virginia. Mostly former Army of Me bassists were present, but Jamie fit right in. I was hoping that I'd meet some bass players that aren't mean bullies, but all I found is that no matter what bass players you're around or what state you're in, they're always going to group together and bully everyone based upon what instruments people do or do not play. Can't win with bass players. Furthermore, I hope they know that they're lovable whether or not they play bass or not. Though, I'd probably love them more if they let me live!

Can't arm wrestle yourself into heaven

Drove two hours to see this guy sing a few songs, tell a bunch of people I don't know how much the Jealousy Curve CD's cost, smell a hat, experience the unfairness of the workforce, and hang out in a "basement". Yeah, I think that about sums it up.

i don't sleep to dream

"Just seems odd that of ALL the shows you wanna go to, you wanna go to this one. Especially considering the conversation we had earlier."
"I saw it on the site earlier, its no big deal. if it bothers u i won't go. I was just kickin round the idea. Besides, you said nothin was goin on with him."
"That's not
even the fucking point.... and that was before tonight"
"what does that mean?"
"That's not important....."
"well, like i said i was only half thinkin bout it, I figured to try and get past my jealousy since it seemed to be unfounded."
"how is this going to make you not jealous? isnt this going to just make it worse?"
"why would it make it worst? Does that mean that you have feelings for him?"
"no, I'm not saying that. I'm not talking about me here. I'm talking about you."
