Welcome 2010!

I bid 2009 a fond farewell with pasta, booze, and Jamie. Sounds like the perfect combination, but in actuality the perfect combination is mango + rum = mango martini. Delicious! It sounds somewhat ridiculous to have day dreamed of drinking martinis prior to turning 21, but I suppose it goes along with my fascination with all things retro cool. Be that as it may, I discovered I get seriously ill anytime I have any vodka. Even a sip of vodka will mess me up for a few days. But I digress, I've found that more than one place makes martinis with rum! I suppose in some ways that's not a true martini, but I don't care! I get to drink a yummy drink from those awesome martini glasses and it made my night fo sho! I could have probably gone home happy, but instead we went to a little house party. Was there live jam sessions, massage trains, sex on dryers, Bob Dylan dancing and old school wrestling on the TV at your New Years Party? Was at the one I was at! Don't be too jealous!! Maybe next year, suck'ahs! ;)

Happy New Year, ya'll.
Here We Go Again, 2010!

Bang, bang, my baby shot me down

Believe it or not, that is actual blood on my shirt. In the photo it doesn't seem to look real or as bad as it did in person. But worry not, it was not my blood! Unfortunately, though, it was Gizmo's. But it was nothing serious. He just bites himself too much due to his allergies and these kind of things happen. Not usually all over my shirt, but I got it out so the only casualty suffered was one of Gizmo's back feet. He showed off his three-legged dog skills all the next day. Anyway, the weirdest part about this was that the night before I had this messed up dream that I was shot. I wasn't exactly shot in the dream. I woke up as the shooter was undoubtedly going to slaughter me jolly with a gun. Be that as it may, the dream really shook me up. Naturally, when I looked down and saw all that blood on my shirt, I was really startled and I admit for a moment I thought I'd been shot! haha My family agreed it definitely looked like I had been. The photo does no justice!

Heart Stock No. 5

The Sound of Heartache

Another in my Heart Stock Series. The 5th. It's an idea I've had bouncing around in my head for awhile. I've got a few more, but I'm glad I was able to see this one to fruition. And even more glad to have an idea that I not only completed, but could give to Jamie. I would have showed this one earlier, but I didn't want to spoil the surprise!

Dirty frog kissing

Went to see The Princess and the Frog and I'm happy to report it didn't suck! It's been a long time since I saw a 2-d animated Disney film so I was a little nervous! But it was good. I really liked it. And I'm glad they'll have a film to promote in their New Orleans section in Disneyworld now. Promoting Pirates of the Caribbean and Nightmare Before Christmas didn't really make sense, but this movie will. WHEW! Good thing!! Gosh, if I was a sarcastic person... Moreover, I discovered a fun factoid. The voice of Ray the Firefly, Jim Cummings, was also the voice of Darkwing Duck. Childhood favorite!

Happy Crimble Christmas!

As fast as Christmas came, it went. For me, it was like the blink of an eye. I was so engrossed in my classes that by the time I got done, it was already the 18th and the days after just flew by in all the preparations. Be that as it may, I had a very, very nice holiday. I not only got a lot of nice gifts, but I am proud to announce that I did not let my mother down. She boasted before I was even aware of the whole lot that I would "kick ass" at the Beatles Trivial Pursuit game that my uncle brought over. She claimed me for her team, which basically left me to answer all the questions on my own. I appointed her the dice thrower. She did well for a while. Then she got drunk and was even less help! I would say that out of all of the people playing, I answered more questions than everyone. We circled that board so many times because we just could not land on a blue! It was torture! But we won and so my life of reading books about the Beatles, watching their movies, and being generally obsessed was not an absolute waste! So, I did NOT kill myself for Christmas. Yay! Another successful holiday!

Christmas? LOCKED AND LOADED.

Gizmo and I are so ready for Christmas! Bring it on, Christmas! We're not scared! We've been watching out! We haven't cried or pouted! We haven't even gotten as freaked out as we have previous years about the prospect of Santa seeing us while we're sleeping! Bring it! We're ready! No fear!

Happy Crimble and a Merry Rudolph! Don't be scared of Santa! Best B&E you'll suffer all year!

Take me on

Tis the season to give Bob Dylan's face as a gift. Does anyone remember the video for for "Take On Me" by A-ha? Something about the way I drafted Bob reminds me of the art in that video. Classic. Bob always was way ahead of his time.

You'll never know why your love runs dry

This started out as a completely different thing. It was a portrait that wasn't working out. So I started just messing around with it with pen and marker and color and doing this and I kind of like the end result. Kind of has a graphic, comic type appeal to it.

Just some random art to share.

I think I'll post some of the work I've done in school when I get around to it as well.

What gives, snow?!

There was a lot of casualties in the dig out. I lost a bell from my late grandmother's lapel pin. I lost the ability to move my back due to the worst and possibly most heavy shovel there is. I simply say "shovel" rather than "snow shovel" as this was not a shovel designed for snow shoveling and thus did a terrible job at it. Furthermore, my hair was seriously matted and dreaded during the hours it spent crammed and trapped under my coat, my scarf, and my hat. The snow has inflicted so many levels of torture on me! And what I'd like to know is what I did to piss snow off so bad to deserve this?! I thought snow could be big about all the smack I've been talking on it. Apparently not. Oh snow.

Lions and tigers and bears oh snow!

Started snowing and kept snowing and snowing and snowing until there was so much snow that the puppies couldn't go off the porch, I couldn't leave the house, and I lost ten Kohl's bucks. And really, that's the real tragedy here. Damn you, snow! You owe me $10!

TGIF? Fail.

Felt pretty awful so I didn't do much of anything today. There was a lot of things I wanted to get done, but I didn't. I also didn't take these holiday photos today, but I thought I would post one because Gizmo and I are so darling.

Can't believe Christmas is a week away....I'm not ready!!!

Winter break! Hurray!

Officially won't have to be here til next year! I probably shouldn't say that, though. I'm probably jinxing myself. But, if all goes as planned, I won't be here til early January! I won't miss it. It's been so much busier due to holiday shopping and I've been forced to always ride backwards, which my body doesn't like. Though, I'm getting much better at handling it. Moreover, those trains need to air out. When I come back to you, Patco, I hope you smell better. Things are just getting rank. It's not good. Not VIP at all.

Are they real? Yes... and no

Went to the Academy of Natural Science after I made $30 selling a book and ditching another in the loo. It was ridiculously cold on the walk there and as ridiculously unorganized and structured as all of the Portfolio classes we've had all quarter. This museum really paled in comparison to the Natural History museums I have frequented in both NY & DC, but it was kind of precious.

The point of the trip was for us to sketch the animals. Not many people actually did this as our chatty teacher sucked a lot of them into another JFK conspiracy, but I got bored of wandering and did a little sketch of an Okapi. It was the most popular animal of them all and also where I happened to find an open spot to sit. Behold... OKAPI

Party party party

Amy had a Christmas party and Jamie and myself attended thus party. It was a pretty classy affair. Be that as it may, that didn't stop the hostess herself to get a little holiday wasted. Which always brings out the depths of her excitement to see us and the apologies. OH the apologies. But I suppose it could be worse. As drunk people go, it could be a lot worse. I don't know why I look so sad in that picture. Probably because we got there late and missed the food. Or maybe because I got yelled at for saying the tiramisu was soupy. It was! Ah well. Maybe we'll see Amy again next Christmas...???

It's the most wonderful time of the year

Finally went Christmas shopping. Went to the King of Prussia mall with my mother and didn't get completely done, but I got a lot accomplished. I have to say that I did not enjoy it, though. I enjoyed spending the time with my mother, but shopping on a tiny little budget is hard. It's even harder when you see stuff you've wanted and passed by due to financial restraint go on sale and you STILL can't buy it because of holiday rules and lack of money. Being unemployed is not fun. Stupid money. I hate money. Stupid art school. All taking my money and making it really hard to MAKE money. This whole thing better pay off in the end! blah.

ps. the lights are forming a peace sign. it's just hard to see in this picture. looks marginally better in person.

Some saved my life tonight

What a blur. I've pulled all-nighters before, but I don't think I've done it under these circumstances before. I shouldn't be any more specific than that. I have male readers. My women readers might have a clue to what I'm referring to. Be that as it may, I had to make the commute to Philly, take a test, draw a nearly naked model, and make it back in rush hour traffic without falling asleep. I was pretty good til I got on route 55. It's so boring. I was fading then. Luckily, I had Lady Gaga in the car and I forced myself to sing along just to stay awake! So... really.. Lady Gaga saved my life!

They're no match for me

I cannot wait until Nicole Atkins comes out with her next album. Her first album, Neptune City, has been in heavy rotation in my CD player since I got it. I can't believe it still plays. She's such a huge inspiration to me in every way. Despite the fact that going to her show caused me a great deal of internal pain and resulted in me pulling an all-nighter, it was totally worth it and I wouldn't have missed it if I could help it. Really made me miss playing out and singing live and all of that jazz. Really made me kind of hate animation. haha Nicole Atkins music is so good it makes me hate art! And man, she's got this violinist now and she really added to the sound. So cool. Such a sweet band. And the bass player totally resembled Christian Bale. Bonus! Can't wait til she comes back! Hopefully next time she won't on such a terrible date for me. haha

Miss Lulu & The Teaspoon Shortage

This time of year I shouldn't be buying new things, but this was an exception to the rule. Not only are they adorable booties, but they were once owned by one of my favorite young photographers, Lucia Holm. I've been following her work on Flickr for a long time now. The other day I saw she was selling a lot of her vintage clothing on her Etsy page and stumbled upon these lovelies. Despite her wearing a size 7 shoe, she was selling these size 6 shoes for only $15! Things were selling really fast so I didn't really have a lot of time to dwell on it and I just quickly bought them and I'm so glad that I did! Without seeming stalkerish, I found it to be kind of cool to have something that was once hers, but moreover, they're so cute and comfortable! I love them! They're just the sort of shoe I needed for walking around in Philly. They're fashionable and flat. I just love them. And they came with a cute little thank you card and her business card. So pleased with my impulse buy! How often does that happen??

Yuck?

What do you think this is? I couldn't tell you myself. I sat next to it, but I certainly did not touch it.

That girl is a monster

What can I say about Lady Gaga that hasn't already been said?
I could say that I love her, but that's definitely been said.

I could say that her shows are not only visually stimulating, but the girl can fucking sing. And when I say she can fucking sing, I mean, she can hold a steady note when a man is picking her up by her crotch. That has to be some kind of testament to her vocal stability/ability.

She's kind of like a pop monster. Like a mad scientist took all the best parts of the top stars of the day and combined them and thus created Lady Gaga. Sings like Christina, dances like Britney, plays the keys like Alicia Keys, and so on and so forth. I'm sure you could mix it any way that you want or maybe you're just shaking your head at me and thinking I've gone gaga. Yeah, I totally have. She's phenomenal.

I can't stop listening to Fame Monster! Still!

So yeah, I'm a proud little monster. Despite the slight confusion on whether she likes monsters or not, I think it's ok as long as we stay "little" and let's face it, I'm going to be little always!

And many thanks to fellow monsterteer, Jamie, who is phenomenal for not only hooking me up with those tickets, but also for hooking me up with a glo-stick! I should be so lucky!
