i know it sounds foolish

So much to say, yet I don't feel like saying anything at all.

ps. my sincere apologies to Young Love, Hello Tokyo, and Pete's Pizza Joint who were also a part of my Philly-filled day but were not given the attention they probably deserved in this post.

the lights are bright in the circus

I have really weird dreams some nights. A few nights ago I had a strange dream where I rented a gorilla for a day and half way through the night, I wanted to take it back because it clung to me too much. But, in the dream, it was already 12:37 and the gorilla renting shop was closed. Then last night I had a dream that could basically be described as a scene left on the cutting room floor of The Departed.
Jamie got me a book on dreams to investigate all these strange and sometimes terribly frightening dreams. But I think sometimes looking up the meanings is like finding out what the story behind a great song is. It kind of ruins my own interpretation. You know what? That might have sounded good, but that's probably a lie. I'm usually just too damn lazy to look them up becauseI don't know where to begin. I guess she should have just bought me a dream analyzer robot. Or more accurately, she should have invented one of those....Thanks for nothing, Jamie.

who needs a heart when a heart can be broken?

So, last night, I took some Lunesta (my asskicking sleep medication) just prior to updating my blog figuring that I could just quickly update and then hop into bed without any problems. I was wrong. Something went wrong and this lead to it taking me much longer to update and with every second that went by, the loopier and loopier I became thus why that post is a mess and a somewhat incoherent post quickly followed. It was hilarious for me to read today considering I barely can even recall updating or much else after, so I decided to just leave it a mess for memory sake. Lesson learned. Never take your sleep medicine for granted.

Also, never take your internet speed for granted. One day it might just suddenly decide to be slow again. I've been mourning the loss of faces on myspace and blogs all day.

But on a happier note, I finally got work! Just in time for me to buy an AOM hoodie on Tuesday! Hollahollaholla!

Also, I wrote a new song. I had melodies and thoughts bouncing around in my head for days and today I decided to try to get them out and discovered if I let them collect up, I lack my own sort of filtering system and I can't decide what is good and what is bad. But I left it and went and watched a quarter of the Oscars and a movie and when I came back to my guitar, my head was much clearer and I actually completed a lovely little something. Or so I hope. My filtering system could still be on the fritz. (is that the correct spelling of that word? because that's definitely the name of one of my Dad's past dogs, I'm thinking I'm thinking of the wrong word here)

when is International Root Beer Float day?

Despite the controversy surrounding it, International Pancake Day was a HIT. I can't believe so many people wanted to bring down such a joyous occasion! I don't care when pancake days are for other people. This is ours! And we loved it! But don't like Jamie fool you with her blog. I was the one keepin it real with the STRAWBERRY PANCAKE! She had normal ones. I had STRAWBERRY PANCAKE! But they did make me wait for it. OH WELL. At least no one had to die.

HAPPY PANCAKES ARE THE BEST!

note to self: do not blog after taking lunesta.

i know i can't express this feeling of tenderness

A wise man once said, "time you enjoyed wasting, was not wasted". Today was one of those kinds of complete wastes. Despite having nothing special happen, going nowhere, and not even having a shower, today was some kind of wonderful. Gotta cherish the happiful days; never know when they're going to stop coming around.

happy birthday, Mr. Washington, sir.
I hope you enjoyed your day of days as much as me!

chili's, you did something right tonight!

In a shocking upset, the Winner of the Clean Plate Award goes to....
My Mother!

it's not often that she ever eat let alone eat everything on her whole plate!
and moreover, beat my father for the award!
and he's a nightly winner.
Though, I think if my mother was here to speak on her award she would have to give a special thanks to me. For without me, no one would have eaten her garlic bread and this award would not be possible.

Good to feel like I have a purpose!

"if you read my blog, you know I'm a pilates freak. and by pilates, I mean cupcakes"

today was a good day. I went to the post office and Acme.
my brother came over for dinner with good news.
and best of all, after AOM's set, I eventually regained my hearing!
awesome day/night/tuesday/month - nearly over! bhoooot.

"what's goin on, DAANnis?"

i thought you were special, i thought you should know

You might think I've been slacking on blogging, and I have been doing a lot of slacking in general, but more over, I've just been terribly busy celebrating one of the most important birthdays around. I say "one of" because obviously my own is the most important one ever. But, all things considered, Jamie's birth is a pretty spectacular occasion and we tried to do it up right. NYC on Friday. WC on Saturday. Drunken mayhem was had; mostly by the birthday girl herself. But I learned some valuble lessons...

- The C train will run when it wants to. No matter what the signs say.
- "Rain Showers" leave a lot of soap residue.
- Jamie is one of "those" drunks
- Being the guest of honor isn't all it's cracked up to be
- Mustaches have a unique effect on different people
- I'm "beautiful" and I shouldnt take it for granted or.. something..
- The papparazzi are such pests!
- My father actually has taught me useful things!

So, in conclusion, I hope you had a fun birthday, Jame! It's not always easy to formulate stupendous plans in such weather with such low funds and in such an area. Someday when I'm in the money, we'll do something better than freezing our asses (though mostly our legs) off in colder cities than our own and sliding down poorly plowed sidewalks. We'll go somewhere hot and celebrate both our birthdays where they should be; in ze heat! Love you, brother! Welcome to your 23rd year! I hope it's as awesome as the 22nd was...

it was awesome, wasn't it?
that was the year you got to live with me afterall.
CONSIDER YOURSELF PRIVILEGED!

blame it on the black star

I imagine that if I didn't stay up all night long that I wouldn't sleep all day. I imagine that's how it works. I feel like I've forgotten how and cannot seem to find my way to my bed before 5am or my way out of it before 2pm.

I miss sunshine! Help me get back!

love is a losing hand

February 14th means a lot of things to a lot of different people. To many it's Valentine's Day. To some it's Ferris Wheel day. Or maybe even just another day like any other day. But for me, February 14th is the anniversary of the day that my life was Gizmofied. Two years ago today, my mother and I drove to Philadelphia International Airport and picked up my little void of color. He was much smaller in those days. We made an agreement that he wouldn't get any bigger, and in true Gizmo defiance, he broke our deal and has grown quite a bit. However, he's retained his girlish figure unlike some schnauzers in this household. But despite him growing up, he's still basically the same whiney, attached puppy that he was then. But just a little more stylish....

In honor of "My Favorite", I sing this little ditty:

"My little gentleman, I'll take you to foggy London town because you are my little gentleman..."

Those lyrics aren't to be taken too seriously. I think Gizmo would like air travel about as much as I do so I don't think we'll be literally going to foggy London town anytime soon. But, he is quite a little gentleman, wouldn't you say?

Here's to many more February 14ths with Gizmo Wilkerstinitious!
cheers to my bub! ♥

gizmo is an incredible composer

I laughed at the idea of Matt buying a single ticket to see Lily Allen (and being quite hell bent in getting it, might I add), but apparently, I was wrong about Lily Allen's audience. As you can see from the photo, the boys loves them some Lily too! And with good reason, no doubt. She's amazing. You can't take your eyes off her! A kind of ease in front of her audience that I envy. A kind of honest, yet sarcastic confidence.

Everytime I see a girl leading a band, guitar free, like that, I want it even more. I want that so bad I can taste it. I need a band. I need to be freed from the restraints that come along with being a one-man-band! I want to fast-forward to that time in my life and skip all these dreary acoustic coffee shop jams. I want to be looking back on them instead of scheduling more! All in due time.

And during that time, I suggest you check out Lily Allen. She's tremendous!

ps. Matt is a dick.

if you leave me, i won't be late again. oh no.

"my dog is cuter than your dog"
I have never seen more true words printed on the ass of a pair of
"skibbies"
in my life.

what you see's not what you get

I didn't bother with this blog bull yesterday because it's been getting a bit on the repetative side. Which is not necessarily my blogs fault. My monotonous life is to blame. But I am hoping to put an end to all this boredom soon! I've been on a strict NyQuil diet lately, but I'm switching up. Following in the footsteps of Huey Lewis, I got a new drug. One that won't make me sick. Literally, to take some sick away. But one that won't make me crash my car or feel three feet thick or make my head hurt or my mouth too dry or my eyes too red or make me too nervous sounds nice too. etc, etc, etc.

some good things that came from today:
- I think my pink eye is clearing up
- Bryan called, he has $20 with my name on it. holla at me, im a working musician!
- Walgreens actually had aleve cold & sinus
- I finally put my paychecks in the bank. i may be able survive this financially draining month

hooha.

redonkelous!

If I have pink eye, I'm going to kill my brother.

February is definitely NOT my month.
February is stupid.
Pink eye?!
You gotta be kidding me!

it's a bit nutty

So, as I've been saying, I'm sick. But tonight, I care not. Tonight, I won an Academy Award for my role as "Healthy Woman". Maybe tonight will have made the difference. Words spoke to my brain, music spoke to my soul, and, either I'm feeling feverish again or, I'm feelin hot tonight.... =)

ps. thanks again for the assistance, team!

boo, you whore.

"In 1953, Virginia governor John S. Battle unsuccessfully attempted to change the state's motto from "sic semper tyrannis" to "ol' Ginny gonna get you."

God, I hope that's true.

in other news, I'm still full of flu and it's too goddamn cold.
Which are two things I would love to miraculously vanish tomorrow, but probably won't. boo.

once was lost, but now I'm found!

Blogisphere, meet Gizmo Wilkerstinitious (on the left). Many of you have had the pleasure of meeting him, but there's possibly millions more reading that never have and never will. That's got to suck for you guys. But anyway, Gizmotron is my favorite thing. My love for him is quite frankly pathetic. Just a little abnormal. I have to think it's probably not normal to be unable to sleep through the morning because your dog isn't in your bedroom anymore. I thought I wanted him out during the weekends because he tends to whine a lot when he hears the added people activity downstairs, which keeps me up. Well, today, my mother actually released him from the captivity of my bedroom and I wound up getting up not long after because I felt the heavy weight of his absense. I couldn't shake it! Is that weird?

Saturday, February 3, 2007

you had me at bucket

They should make this shit more powerful. I need super powerful, flu-strength NyQuil. It knocks me out for about 2 hrs and then I'm wide awake and miserable! Cold/Flu Relief my ass!

i don't sleep to dream

"Just seems odd that of ALL the shows you wanna go to, you wanna go to this one. Especially considering the conversation we had earlier."
"I saw it on the site earlier, its no big deal. if it bothers u i won't go. I was just kickin round the idea. Besides, you said nothin was goin on with him."
"That's not
even the fucking point.... and that was before tonight"
"what does that mean?"
"That's not important....."
"well, like i said i was only half thinkin bout it, I figured to try and get past my jealousy since it seemed to be unfounded."
"how is this going to make you not jealous? isnt this going to just make it worse?"
"why would it make it worst? Does that mean that you have feelings for him?"
"no, I'm not saying that. I'm not talking about me here. I'm talking about you."

could February be my month?
