This day in New York has beat me

What a prettiful sky! It definitely beat out the photo I had of Nathan with the mini tacos after he had all of those Zimas. I mean, that was a pretty classic and hilarious photo considering HOW smashed Nathan was, but look at that sky! I guess I'll just hold onto this photo of Nathan as blackmail... muahahahahahah

I shake my fist at thee!

I had a pretty crappy Saturday thanks to my least favorite class right now - Fundamentals of Design. It's draining my sanity and my wallet and I cannot wait to be done with it! Luckily, I have a really adorable dog that is at least able to restore one of those problems. If only he could make me a few bucks somehow...

pepper in some fun!

If you follow me on twitter, you may have seen the hands I drew for my drawing class. Well, here's some peppers I drew too. Aren't my weekends thrilling?! Who would want to miss this?!

Thanks, Giving

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

I can't say that mine was perfect, but it was pretty great nonetheless. My very good buddy, John, came and joined my family for our terribly authentic Thanksgiving meal. Gizmo in his Pilgrim attire (as you can see!) and I in my Indian headdress (why didn't we take any pictures?), we broke bread and discussed what we were all thankful for. I would share, but that's incredibly personal and I would never break the sacred vows of Thanksgiving dinner chat on my world wide blog. Especially considering how many people frequent this page. It could be disaster. It could disrupt the space time continuum.....yup.

In other news, my mom cooked such a delicious dinner that caused everyone to eat way too much and to have no room for dessert. Thus no one even tried a cupcake :( Total bummer! Oh well. More for me!

Well, more accurately, more for my Dad. holy cow.

Deliciosity

Delicious pumpkin pie cupcakes made from scratch!
I've made a lot of cupcakes and I've even made a lot of them from scratch in my time, but I think these are the best cupcakes I ever made. Don't get me wrong, I've liked the ones I've made in the past, but I pure loved these. Maybe it was the icing that sealed the deal. This was the first time I ever made my own icing as well as the cupcake itself and it was yum-yum yummers! I'm really happy with how they came out! Thanksgiving here we come!

Date with your camera

Here's something fun to do if you're in the city, bored, with a camera.

Stop and take a photo of something on the street. Preferably something in the sky. Then watch as all the people walking by look up at whatever it is that you're taking a photo of. But ignore the comments you receive from incoherent men walking by. Some people just won't understand your artistic eye!

Gizhobo bo bo

There's a lot of reasons I prefer being me opposed to being Gizmo, there are times that I'm hard pressed to remember what those reasons are. Especially when I've spent another weekend doing projects and papers galore. Look at the life of leisure! He's got it dead easy! Little fucking bastard...

You didn't save me

I hate doing marker compositions. I spend hours coloring with smelly markers which are probably eroding my brain with every minute that passes. This is the one I'm happiest with. We'll see what happens on Tuesday, though.

Went to California real quick. It was delicious.
I would highly recommend it.

The doggie bounce

With nothing to update about besides school, I'll fill my pages with pictures of the cutest dog in the land! Let's face it, he's all that I tweet about too. Hm. Kind of sad..Oh well! Here's to a life of being that crazy dog lady!

I don't hear a sound

Just another day in paradise.
I'm having a bad year.
Stay Alive 2009 fo sho.

In somewhat related news, this blog is clearly dying out. Without having any time to do art that's not related to my school work and having been laid off from my cake decorating job, I'm sort of lacking a point. I don't know if I'll even bother much longer. I barely even take pictures anymore. It's getting pretty pointless. We'll see, I guess.

so uh-mazing

Things That Amazed Me Today
1. How much time I can spend on one single HW assignment
2. How many episodes of Mary Queen of Shops I can watch in a single day
3. How hard it is to get Gizmo to do anything without my voice
4. How hard it is to communicate with anyone without my voice
5. How many french fries Chili's gave me
6. How horrible Chili's french fries are
7. How much I hate writing analysis papers on rhetorical devices
8. How annoyed I can be by one person
9. How cute my pupper's face is

This has never happened in the history of jinx

When I first lost my voice, I thought it was kind of fun to have a different sounding voice. But then the following day I had even less voice and then it kept going down like that. Not only that, with each day I've just felt sicker and sicker. On Thursday I thought I was healthy, but clearly it was some kind of trick played on me by my T-cells. I'm not amused, guys. Not amused at all.

The Romantic

I was the lucky recipient of a personal invitation to the Philadelphia pre-screening of the sensational new animated film, "The Romantic". It was pretty exclusive, but I had an "in" with one of the crew members. Not just any crew member. Yeah, believe it or not, I had an "in" with THE composer of the entire soundtrack, Nathan Terry. Despite the fact that the cold I developed on Monday (which I thought was gone by Thursday) decided to come back on Friday like some kind of campground killer and slaughter my voice, Jamie and I went up to Philly to take part in this once in a lifetime opportunity. Somehow we braved the rain and wind and arrived at the Circle of Hope theatre with time to spare. The movie was really awesome. The animation was twisted and the storyline was even more so. But I definitely enjoyed what I saw. I might not have comprehended it all accurately, but it entertained me and held my interest throughout. Moreover, the music was phenomenal. I don't think I'm bias in saying that either. Somehow Nathan continues to impress me more and more. I didn't think it was possible! He's an amazing musician/composer/person and I definitely feel honored to know him and to even have had the chance to work and collaborate with him. So, what I'm really trying to say is...

I fucking hate the fucking jerk.

You'll be sweet til you get to your car

Today I stopped by the Lollipop Tree and picked up my tips, my Cokes, and my CD's. I'm officially done. I'll get my last check next week, but that will be terribly, terribly small as it will only have a relatively small amount of hours on there. Major bummerz, ya'll! No more cakin' for me! Boo hiss hiss

Remember the 5th of November

Another day in paradise. Midterms done. Six weeks in this quarter to go! By the time it's over, it'll be Christmas already. That's really not good considering the news I received when I got home. Due to some changes and financial difficulties, I've been let go from my job at the Lollipop Tree (or the Lollipop Forest, if you will). It sucks to be perfectly honest. But I understand that tough situation my boss was in and I don't hold it against her in anyway. I just have no idea what I'm going to do for money now. It's pretty hard for me to find a place that would give me one day a week with such a potential for hours. Especially a job that I enjoyed as much as I enjoyed that one. Sometimes it wasn't easy, but I did really enjoy it. I learned a lot of techniques that I'll definitely continue to use when I bake on my own from now on. I'm a little bummed. Really the perfect end to a perfect week. LE sigh.

Your face is driving me nuts

This picture is basically used for symbolism too. Again, it's pretty buried, but eh. This day sucked. I'm not going to go into it. It was actually bad enough that that's all I'm going to say about it. But, I like this picture so I'm going to post it and call it a day.

I hope you all had a much better Hump Day than I did.

Trust me when I say the water is still rising

I didn't take any pictures from this particular day so this picture will due, I guess. Just a random stock photo, I guess. And in some ways I feel it's symbolic. But the symbolism is pretty buried so I won't go into that.

Symbolism aside, I had a pretty alright day. My computer science class got done unexpectedly early. Despite that, I had to hang around a while afterward. I used the time wisely and started my 3 page paper on, believe it or not, Blogger! Anyway, I was expecting a ride to pick me up to go to the Fire to see Vince play a show in support of his new EP. I had a very special cab number that I called. I got the number from this guy, John. I'm really glad he passed it onto me. Great service. Apparently this guy is available for bachlorette parties too! I'm holding onto this number! So, I thought I was going to be late to the Fire and possibly miss Vince's set, but I wound up getting there before him and not missing anything. Didn't miss a single thing. Good set, though. And, about the EP, you should check it out. It is very lovely. So good I bought two.

Make Yourself Naked EP for sale on iTunes. It's only $4.95, folks! Get it! It's really good! I kid you not! And if you're unfamiliar with Army of Me, you should check out their album "Citizen". It rocks. And it rolls.
Ok, I'm done trying to make the hard sell now!

I don't wanna work

Another day of work. All these projects were for my midterms due so I was pretty swamped. This was my still life. I worked on this all day on and off. I would switch back and forth between revising my English papers, writing my cover memo, and this.

Spoiler Alert: I got a good grade on this still life. Yippee!

Scarlett Johannson Portrait Complete

My Saturday was sort of a bust. I went to Staples in order to get a jump on my design class project, but unfortunately they were no help at all. So defeated, we went home and I worked on other work. The next day my mother and I researched the closest Kinkos (my instructor said that Kinkos is better than Staples) and the nearest one that we could find, that was open late enough on a Sunday, was in Mt. Laurel. So, we went all the way up there and the copies cost me $17. Ridiculous! Then we hit up the mall briefly so I could look for a book bag (got one! yay!) and then my crazy mother couldn't resist the urge to partake in a little Bahama Breeze for dinner. We wound up getting home sometime around 8 wherein I got started on my project right away. A little after 2 I finally finished. This is the finished product. I better have gotten a decent grade considering how frustrating this was to make!
