This is my nightmare

Last night I had a dream. I don't remember everything that happened, but the thing I remember most was my mother calling the school and telling someone that I wasn't going to be able to come in because she had to take me to the ER. Why? Because I had such a severe headache. Then I woke up with a ridiculously severe headache. It was a beast. I'm not going to complain about it, though. I'm just going to leave it at that. I bitched enough in my post yesterday. I survived and I did not go to the ER. Amen.

A post for you to ignore completely

You'll never believe what I got up to today! It was terribly exciting. I did homework! Basically ALL day! I was talking with Jamie about how lame the break between quarters was. I've come to realize that in the time span that "most" colleges are doing one midterm and one final, I'm doing two midterms and two finals. I've really got my work cut out for me. I never have time to do anything except my work. It sucks to work so much and so hard and miss out on seeing everyone. Even when I do have time, I don't have the money to do anything. And all the confusion with financial aid and student loans and FAFSA and all this mess is really a drag lately. It's really bringing me down. Everything takes too long and costs too much. I just had a vacation, but it was probably not the wisest time to take a vacation. When I got back from Florida, I needed a vacation from my vacation. haha I'm so ready for June to be here. Especially June weather! This shit we've had lately is ridiculous.

Alright. That's enough. I'm going to stop whining like a baby. Just a little vent session. I do realize how lucky I am to be able to do what I'm doing so forgive my weak moments. Furthermore, I'm glad to find out who my real friends are. And I'm so appreciative to have friends that understand and support what I'm doing. You know who you are! Love you guys!!

I saw a movie.

Worked, worked, worked and then I went to a movie. In the movie, the two main characters went on a date and it was as good as farting in a shoebox. Realizing their marriage was in shambles, they went to Manhattan and did the unthinkable; stole someone's reservation. Then two guys tried to kill them for it. They escaped. Puked. And then stole a shirtless man's Audi. Then they drove around the city a lot and stripped for Jimmy MacElroy's dad. After this, they realized their marriage was pretty cool and made out.

I hope I didn't spoil anything for anyone.

It was lovely, wasn't it?

Though going to class on Friday afternoons is a pain in the ass, the weather was kind of nice. It was one of those days where I wanted to stop and take a picture of everything. The sun was just hitting everything and making it glitter and glow. Too bad most of that time was wasted commuting. Boooo

Just face it

I haven't had very much experience at all with sculpture. At Christmas, I tried my hand at it on my own, but it didn't turn out too great. So now I have to take a sculpture class and apparently I'm not as terrible as I thought I was. We started this last week and had to finish it up tonight for a grade. We all had to leave the room while he graded everyone's work. When we returned, he had moved our sculpting tables into a line up and explained which work was the closest to what he was looking for. Mine was up with the three best in the room! And, honestly, if you had looked at the other two, you'd have to note that they looked less human then mine did. I don't mean to come off as rude or cocky, but I was pretty proud of my work. I'm definitely not letting it go to my head. I'm going to continue to work just as hard and listen closely to his instructions. I definitely don't think I'm some kind of sculpture Goddess by any means. But he gave us the option to take them home or to leave them behind, and I took mine home. It's something I sculpted that's not a complete mess! Hurray! And next week I think we're going to be sculpting the REST of her. When that fact struck her during a hair dye conversation in the ladies room, she ran out of the bathroom saying, "Ah! I can't be naked in front of you! We're friends!!!"

Congrats, L & M!

Keeping with tradition, I accompanied Nathan to another Terry Wedding. Well, that's partially true. I didn't attend the wedding part this time. I just went to the reception. If his family believed we were just friends the first Terry Wedding, they completely don't believe us now. Even going as far as one of his aunts telling him he was lying. Unfortunately, she didn't ask me. I had a great response. I was going to say, "I keep asking him, but he keeps turning me down.." and then bursting into tears. In other news, on Thursday I randomly ran into an old friend from high school while standing outside of the college on a break. And then who was unexpectedly at the reception? That same old friend! So crazy! So I got to hang out with him a lot sooner than planned! It made the whole beginning of the reception a lot less awkward. As for the reception itself? It was really nice! And Laura and Mike had some great ideas. Some people give candy and candies to their guests, but Laura and Mike gave mix CDs that they compiled including a song they recorded together. Being that Laura (and I guess Mike) has similar taste in music as me, I absolutely love the mix! It's great! They also gave away the pretty centerpieces (tulips) and a bit of Laura's glass. That doesn't make sense, but I'm not going to explain it just to be a bitch. Anyway, as always, Nathan and I were the best dancers of the night and despite the many dance competitions judged by Mike and Laura, I didn't win as I never competed. Didn't think it would be fair. I do the best Electric Slide anyone has ever seen. It's so good I feel bad doing it in front of people. It crushes souls. And also, I would have crumbled under the pressure. All in all, a pretty fun time. Too bad Nathan doesn't have anymore sisters....

ps. I finally wore the sweet tights I got for Christmas. I got so many comments and compliments on them. When I put them on, I was so stoked so I'm glad the feeling was mutual! I could not get a nice shot of them. OH WELL. I'll just have to wear them more!

It's pretty. Pretty cold.

Today was such a lie. It looked gorgeous outside, but it was so windy and cold. I thought it was cold anyway. But that might have been influenced by my physical status. Really been feeling under the weather the last few days so I might be cold because I'm slowly dying....

Super special kind of asshole night

Thanks to my brain that would not stop tossing and turning things over and over and over, even my sleeping aid couldn't get me to sleepy hollow. This lead to a very fun day for me. I say that with all sarcasm. I was so exhausted I couldn't even eat. And I've gone without sleep before, but for some reason I just felt like the walking dead. Of course it was my longest day. That's the way it always works. Damn you, Murphy! You and your stupid law!

Don't mess with Texas Roadhouse

I'm not a fan of the Texas Roadhouse, but I am a fan of hanging out with my mother. So, when she invited me to come to dinner with her in support of the March of Dimes, I had two reasons why I couldn't turn down the invite. It wasn't as bad as usual. If I could block out the music, the obnoxious birthday exclamations, and the looming possibility of line dancing, it would just be like any other restaurant. I try to keep that in the back of my mind whenever crossing the thresh hold. But in all honesty, my mom is the best so I'd go to any horrible restaurant with her. I should probably not say that in writing. I might not like to follow through on that...

It's better than my ethics class, though

I hate this. It's supposed to be Zooey Deschanel. I can't find the picture I drew it from, but I think it's for the best that I not demonstrate that along with it. haha I got fed up with it not turning out how I wanted it to and just kind of finished it. That's why the hair isn't very finely tuned. What do you guys think?

Happy Birthday, Dad! (and Aunt Barbara!)

Today is my father's birthday. Today I was elected, by default, to be his favorite child. How did I get this great honor? By being the only child to text him "Happy Birthday!" on his day of days. It's the little things, people. Sometimes it really is the thought that counts.

Run, Sonic, Run

As I mentioned yesterday, Becky once swore to marry Sonic. So, naturally, I had to make her a special Sonic card for the occasion. I think it turned out pretty good. I did it really fast late the night before the 9am shower. And then I quickly scanned it onto the computer before we left at 8:30. Brutal. I'm definitely having my bridal shower at 2am just to be a bitch.

it's raining brides!

Just got home from the bridal shower of a friend that I've had since the 4th grade! Back in those days when we were little kids, not only did I sign my name "The Great One" but Becky here was in love with Sonic the Hedgehog. And she didn't just enjoy the game. She hung up things on her wall exclaiming her love for him and claimed she was going to marry Sonic. I didn't let her forget this today at her bridal shower considering she is NOT marrying Sonic at all! I've seen and met and talked to Dave. He's nice, but can he run like Sonic? Is he best friends with a Fox with a lot of tails? Would he run around naked collecting rings all over the world for her? I don't think so! But I suppose he gave her the only ring she really wanted so Sonic is just shit outta luck. In all seriousness, Becky still the same sweet, genuine person that she ever was and she's the only person I know that has really got their life on track. She deserves it, though. She's worked really hard to get everything she has and I wish her nothing but the best! I just hope she'll sprinkle a little of that magic fairy dust she's got on her onto me!!

ps. Ever been to a bridal shower that started at 9am? That's when hers started. So brutal. Nap time now.

Flight of the Conchords for the win!

Yesterday I said I'd explain the good news I got on Thursday. Dum da da DAAA I got Best of Quarter! The above piece is the piece that got me this very splendid honor. This is a project we did in Color Theory last quarter. It's basically called a forgery. We take advertisements or pictures and try to match it as close as we can. In doing so, we learn color theory as we blend and mix colors and so on and so forth. My piece was chosen as Best of Quarter out of 31 other pieces out of two Color Theory classes. Most teachers only bring in a few from each of their classes, but Martone brought in 31. He's crazy like that. And he was extremely proud of his two classes. There was so many incredible pieces. That being said, I'm so flattered to have been chosen. I can honestly say that I did not think I would get it. I thought this other girl in my class definitely would. Definitely shocked! Apparently there's an award ceremony for all the winners and then it will hang in one of the school display cases for a while. Sweet! And since I won't be getting my work back for at least 12 weeks, I figured I'd just post this. It's the last time I saw it before break. I'm so glad I followed my gut and went with my loves, FotC! :)

Oui oui yes yes

After a nice two days off, I spent my day in Philly being studious. Pretty good day. I found out some good news, but I'll post about that tomorrow! Anyway, I had my Conceptual Storytelling and Sculpture for Animation. Both classes are taught by two teachers I've previously had so it was a comfortable. Since it was our first day of sculpture, we played with clay for a while. Just to get the feel for it. That's when I created the Frenchmen, who we named Pierre. Then we had to actually do work and try to sculpt a skull. I've still got work to do on that and carried him home in a cup. It's the little things about being an art student that tickle my fancy. Like carrying a skull home in a paper cup. You don't do that everyday!

In other news, Pierre is no more. I had to demolish him. RIP Pierre.

I'm not finished with you

Another beautiful, hot, sunny day in South Jersey! My brother came by for dinner and told me that I was a terrible owner to my dog because I made my black dog wear a dark blue shirt in this heat. I'll have you know, he wasn't even panting! He was fine! I don't make my dog suffer for fashion the way I do! As if I'd let him suffer. He's a huge baby because someone babied him his whole life. That I'm guilty of. Guilty as charged. :)

Shermin is so fresh and so clean, clean

Not sure when the last time I got my car wash was, but I took advantage of the beautiful, warm weather and sought out a place to have it cleaned. I suppose I could have done it myself, but the place I went to only cost $6 for a wash and a wax so I'll go hungry one day at school to save myself from possibly being stung by a bee trying to wash the car in our driveway. There was people washing their cars manually at this facility, but I just couldn't. There's so many bees everywhere! It's horrible! After I got back home, I got my mother to assist in putting my cute little Nemo topper that I've had... for... months now! I hope this one lasts!!

And so it begins and it is so strange

First day of 3rd Quarter was today. Due to trouble with my schedule, the 12:30 class I had registered for didn't pan out so I only had to go to one class today from 6 to 10. And what a class it was. When you think of basic algebra naturally you think of what? Yes. Saving Private Ryan. After struggling through a preliminary test, he had us stand up and watch the battle scene on Normandy beach from Saving Private Ryan. Yes. We stood for nearly the entire 25 minute battle scene. Afterward, we filled out a survey that included questions concerning which character was the most like ourselves and what we would have done in the same situation. How does this relate to basic algebra? Well, of course it's a lesson about not being afraid of math and not giving up. When I watch graphic war movies, I always think of math so I got it right away. Furthermore, when he showed the scene from Return of the Jedi where Jabba the Hut sentence Luke, Han, and Chewbacca to their deaths through C-3PO, I wasn't at all perplexed at this strange mathematical tactic. Nope. Totally normal. Has happened in every math class I've ever attended. Same for you, right?

Don't call it a comeback

Kick Drum Heart! from jenell o'boogie on Vimeo.

Alright. I said I quit making these, but I guess I'm back. Before I start school tomorrow, I sat down and finally got around to making this video. I try to do them every 3 months and I'm right on schedule with this baby! I'm going to do another one for my Disney trip later on cause that was a super special occasion that warrants a separate fun little thing! So... here's a musical montage of the last three months of my life. I hope you're able to enjoy it as much as I did! ;)

HAPPY ZOMBIE JESUS GIANT EGG LAYING BUNNY DAY!

boing boing boing

I love the trees on our street. They know how to celebrate spring! Sometimes their aroma is a bit strong and can even verge on a funky scent, but I've grown up with it so I rather like it. It reminds me of spring, after all!

Happy Spring!

And it spread

I've been a chronic nail biter since I was in kindergarten and thanks to my recent interest in minimal nail art, my nails are the longest they've ever been! So, I went and got a cheap manicure at this little place in Vineland. If I could, I would have gotten them minxed, but there's no where around here that does that. Maybe there's some places in Philly. Be that as it may, it was an experience. It felt like a social experiment! I think it was worth it. My nails look good and they'll be less likely to break or be bitten by yours truly while they're all polished up nice. I probably won't make a habit of it, though. I don't have any money. I didn't even pay for this manicure. My mother suggested I go and get one after I ran all these errands for her. I'll take that kind of exchange!

Day #7 - Home on the Range

Got back to Jersey just in time for dinner with my family. I was really, really, really happy to see Gizmo, but I wasn't on top of the world about being home. But it's nice that Gizmo and Zoee were both so happy I returned. Gizmo endured the longest hug ever! I have to end this post and go and find him now.... Ciao!

Day #6 - Rollin, rollin, rollin

Check out day. Time to go back to Jersey. Such a quick trip! Had to reluctantly leave our new home. It was a total bummer. My body was on full revolt too. Before we got back on the highway, we went back down to Downtown Disney and actually did some shopping. Believe it or not, we hadn't really bought much of anything the entire trip so we finally picked up some souvenirs. Then we had a bite to eat at one of our old haunts in the area; Panera Bread. It was yummers! Luckily, I can go to Panera Bread practically anytime at all. Disney on the other hand... None of that in Jersey. Boo hiss. After we ate, we got back on the road again. It wasn't anywhere near as much fun as the ride down!

Day #5 - Past Future Magic!

Last full day in Florida, so prior to going to one of the parks, we went down to the hotel pool. This resort we were staying at is so big that it actually has two pools. We went to the first pool and it was massively crowded so we took a walk over to the other one. The other one is not as big, but it's a lot classier. After a little pool time, we went over to Epcot. Spent most of the time just walking around the world and taking it easy. After two straight days of walking, my knees and ankles were about ready to die, but I pressed on! So much to do and so little time! We had to get all around the world and then into the past and into the future and then to the Magic Kingdom. In that magical kingdom, we had to find a hoodie, avoid the parade storm troopers, and find food before Tinkerbell committed suicide AGAIN! We were successful. To end the night, we went BACK to Epcot and tested out some cars. It was a very full day. But it was awesome. I can't wait to go back to Disney already!

Day #4 - Animal Expedition

God willing, the bad weather went away and the sun came back out! It made for a great day at our next destination: Animal Kingdom! It was busier than I'm used to, but it wasn't too bad. I had burnt my tongue the day before on some tea at MGM so we stopped at got some soft serve ice cream that was amazing! Then we went back in time to hang out with dinosaurs and then took a train up Mt. Everest. It was pretty good. Would I recommend it? Probably not. It's kind of a bust. They promise you this long trip and of course, like always, something goes wrong and the trip gets cut short! Classic Disney! Thanks to those nifty Extra Magic Hours, we were there until 12am. It was crazy weird to be there so late. I've never been in the Animal Kingdom after night fall and at that hour it was so dark and so empty. Of course, I heard someone complain that there was no animals in the Animal Kingdom. If you want to see the animals, you gotta go in the daylight hours. I thought that was common sense, but I think I over estimate my fellow Americans when it comes to any kind of sense.

Day #3 - Raindrops of Annoyance

Though we drove away from New Jersey as fast as we could, we clearly didn't get far enough away because the weather was able to find us. Our first full day of Florida was full of rain rain rain. Luckily, I brought my umbrella so I stayed quite dry. After a soggy day at MGM with some of the most annoying families in the world, we went over to the Magic Kingdom. The rain had stopped and it wasn't too crowded so we went on lots of fun schtuff. Thanks to the Extra Magic Hours, we were able to be there til 3am if we so pleased. We only made it to a little after 2, but it was pretty awesome despite the return of the rain. Staying in the Disney Resorts is the way to go!

Day #2 - Toad's Wild Ride

We departed after a grand slammin breakfast and arrived in Florida before the sun went down. It was pretty windy, but it was nice! It was warm! And I didn't pee my pants though I thought I might! After checking in, I hopped behind the wheel to drive Jamie to get her Disney ticket from will-call. Sounds easy, but nothing could have been harder. All I'll say is that not only did we fail in our quest, but I drove in the bus lane, got chased by a lady with a light saber and did a 360 donut in the MGM parking lot. But that coke I got at the monorail huddle house was delish. So worth it. ;) After that ordeal, we went to Downtown Disney and ate in the rain forest. It was really cool. It was raining coins instead of rain! So awesome! Some people liked it more than others. :|
